The Materials Handling Engineers and Buyers within
the company, were unable to source a supplier of lift
and tilt equipment for their application. Shipments
of photographic containers were received from abroad
packed in Tri-Wall cardboard crates mounted on three
bearer wooden pallets.
They employed a full-time operative to scoop the containers
from the crate and feed them into a high level vibrating
hopper, that orientated the containers into an upright
position, in order to fill them with reels of film.
This situation was obviously very time consuming and
labour intensive.
A Saxon Sales and Project Design Engineer visited the
factory and made detailed observations in order to provide
a specification and quotation for a specially engineered
bespoke solution.
An order was subsequently placed, based on the use
of a Standard Saxon Vertical Mast Pallet Lift adapted
with a spigot mounting in order that the pallet could
be rotated through 135° about the swivel axis in
either direction. Special electro-mechanical interlocked
clamps were developed to secure the crate to the pallet
lift base, to provide a safe, stable, self-supporting
installation.
It can be seen from the photographic that a single
operative can now tip a whole pallet of photograph containers
into the hopper in one single operation. |
